About Mariëtte Momberg
Mariëtte Momberg (B.1978) is a Cape Town–based visual artist and printmaker whose multidisciplinary practice explores the complex interplay between humanity and nature. Working primarily in printmaking, Momberg’s work fuses traditional techniques with contemporary narratives. Her pieces often incorporate embroidery, recycled materials, and layered textures, resulting in distinctive, tactile works that are as emotionally resonant as they are visually striking.
Self-taught and deeply intuitive, Momberg left a career in social health and reproductive rights to pursue art full-time in 2018. Her background continues to inform her work, which is grounded in feminist thought, environmental awareness, and the personal as political.
She is a member of the women-led collective The Printing Girls and has exhibited both locally and internationally, including at the AVA Gallery in Cape Town (2024) and the International Original Print Exhibition at Bankside Gallery in London (2023).
Her art features in private collections globally and was chosen as the cover for Karen Zoid’s 2023 album Humanoid.
